November 5th was our move day. It was a Wednesday, and we got up to Marquette late so we did a little unpacking, but pretty much just relaxed with the kids on the first night in our new house. Over the long weekend we unpacked, met a few neighbors, and got settled in more. (This will go on for months!) The kids were thrilled to have their own space again, and we were excited to get back to some sense of normalcy after our whirlwind moving experience. We visited the kids' new schools that Friday, and they were both really excited to meet their new teachers and see their new classrooms. I was so nervous about them changing schools, but they adjusted so easily. 3 1/2 months later now, and its as if they've been there all along. Between getting moved in, getting ready for the holidays, work, and just life, 2014 was over just like that! Here are some pics from our end of year, including Christmas-time which was fun and family-filled as always.
We visited some favorite outdoor places our first weekend in Marquette (just before the first MAJOR snowfall, little did we know!)
This was the view out into our backyard, 2 days later! Two feet of snow in like 24 hours - CRRAAAAZY!
I can't remember for sure, but I think the boys are gone to Grandma and Grandpa's for a night, so Ellie and I are enjoying a girls night. This was a dinner, shopping, and movie night =)
I had some work travel in November as well, so Colin and the kids are having some fun to pass the time
This is my only picture from Thanksgiving...apparently I wasn't in a picture-taking mood that weekend. Thanksgiving was our typical eat-too-much, drink-too-much, shop-too-much kind of weekend =) My sister-in-law, Lindsey, and I even went out shopping super early with the crazies on Black Friday =)
The Christmas season is upon us! We visited Santa at Donckers in early December.
I couldn't resist...it was freezing out, but I took Emmit to the Jilbert's barn. We have all been back since then...soo yummy!
"I MUSTACHE you a question...but I'll SHAVE it for later"...this was Emmit's favorite joke in December =)
Ellie had her first Christmas program at school. She looked so cute in her dress and even let me fix her hair all fancy =)
Our Christmas tree...I had holiday decorations up really early this year. I couldn't decide where I wanted to put 'everyday' decorations in the house, so putting up Christmas decorations let me prolong another month or so =) It definitely made our bare house feel like home in an instant!
The kids on Christmas morning. On Christmas Eve night we went to my parents for dinner, and then headed back home for Christmas Even night. We left cookies and notes for Santa and carrots for the reindeer. The kids were super excited! Wishes were granted on Christmas morning with the favorite gifts being a rock tumbler and terrain twister (Emmit) and a microscope and Leap Pad (Ellie).
Christmas Day we went to Grandma Ruth's for dinner again and more fun with family - the best part about the holidays.
Ellie made this book at school. It was a gift that she got to make for 'someone special'. She made it for her cousin Max. It was so sweet.
Christmas continued for multiple days for us! We spent two days with the Pomeroy family in St. Jacques and then had everyone up to our house for a night too. We ate, drank, and ate some more! I had over two weeks off work - it was great. January would be detox month for Colin and I! =)
