Mr. Emmit

The kids almost always take baths together now, but for some reason, this night, Emmit was on his own. So I got the camera out and took some videos =) Never shy for the camera, he was singing his ABCs and then a little Bob Marley too =)

Emmit doesn't have much patience for coloring and drawing yet, but he's getting better, and is even learning to write some of his letters now too.

The kids are also suddenly 'in love' with the phrase 'in love with'...they are proclaiming what they're 'in love with' on a daily basis. I think Ellie must have heard this at school, but Emmit's caught on too. Emmit informed us the other night that he's in love with puppies and Spanish rice. Ever since having Spanish rice for dinner one night last week, he's in love with it...so funny =)

Christmas 2012

We had a really great Christmas once again. Ellie and Emmit were definitely into the Christmas spirit this year, which made everything that much more fun. We also had a good amount of time off work, so it was great spending time with my family, Colin's family, and just the 4 of us, spread out over a week and a half. The weekend before Christmas we went to my parents. We ate and drank, the kids played, the adults played - it's always a good time when we're ALL home.

The kids had a blast opening gifts. As I was looking at these pictures, I realized I have way more pictures of Ellie. Emmit and Henry were not giving their best smiles as you can see. These two were crazy boys as always!

Santa paid a visit at my parents house too. Ellie kind of freaked out, but the boys were into it =)

Waving goodbye to Santa

I just love this picture of Ellie. She looks so grown up - her 5th birthday is right around the corner!

The evening of the 23rd then, we packed up and headed back home. We started having our own little Christmas at home last year, so this year made it a tradition with the second year. Christmas Eve day was pretty relaxing - we played outside and made cookies for Santa. The Betker clan came over for lunch so we exchanged gifts and visited with them for a bit too. In the evevning, we made a steak dinner and opened a couple gifts with the kids.

Ellie got this jewelry box which she just loved. She followed the pattern and put all the jewels on herself.

Emmit got an Angry Birds game which he also loved.

Saying cheers with their kiddie cocktails at dinner =)

After dinner we took our Christmas cookies and went for a drive to look at lights. Then it was a plate for Santa and the reindeer, a new Christmas movie, and the kids were off to bed. Mom and Dad enjoyed some brandy slush while waiting for Santa to come too =)

I expected Christmas morning to come much earlier than it did, but the kids slept in til 7:00 which was nice. They were very happy with all their gifts, especially their new bikes from Santa.

Later on Christmas Day then, we packed up and headed north again to Pomeroys. The kids of course had a great time opening MORE gifts, playing with their cousins, and sledding outside.

Ellie and Maxwell really had fun playing together. They kept wanting to play, just the two of them =)

Emmit got some new play-dough, and then took upon himself to turn into slime with a wet washcloth =) He was so proud that he thought of this all on his own =)

Pomeroy Family Christmas 2012

Me and Brendan - he's getting so big! Emmit wanted to do everything with Brendan and Aiden - they were very patient playing Connect Four with him =)

As we do every year, we also had a lot of fun sledding and playing in the snow.

Christmas Excitement

Our month of December was filled with lots of fun events, all building up to the anticipation of Christmas. We enjoyed a lot of fun activities like looking at Christmas lights in our neighborhood, decorating our house, making cookies, making gingerbread houses, visiting Santa, and counting down the days on our Christmas calendar. They also had fun picking out gifts for their cousins, and adding everything they could possibly think of to their Santa lists.

I took Ellie and Emmit to the mall one Saturday morning for breakfast with Santa. There were a lot of fun activities, in addition to eating and talking to Santa. They liked it, but I'm not sure I'd venture to this one on my own again. It was so busy and crowded!

My Mom, Steph, Shannon, and I had a fun weekend get-away to Chicago for 'mission wedding dress' in December as well. Not only was our mission accomplished, we also found bridesmaids dresses, got some Christmas shopping done, and made some fun memories over wine =)

My Mom and I on the train from Milwaukee. This was such a great way to travel to Chicago - would do it again in a heartbeat!

This was quite possibly the most beautiful Christmas tree I have ever seen!! It was GIGANTIC!

The kids were very helpful decorating the house this year. They did a great job decorating the tree, and I think we only broke a couple ornaments in the process!

Our Christmas countdown...we added a cottonball everyday leading up to Christmas.

Ho ho ho!

Ellie had a little Christmas program with her 4K class. They sang 3 songs, and then had treats and exchanged gifts. Ellie and I made 'goodie bags' for her friends =)

Ellie before her Christmas party at school

These are Ellie's 2 best friends - Grant and Ethan. She talks about them both non-stop =)

Right before Christmas we had a huge blizzard and EVERYTHING closed...even my office at work, which was pretty much unheard of! We all had a 'snow day' one day, and a fun one it was! The kids and I made cookies with our neighbors all morning, we all sledded in the afternoon, and then got together with some other neighbors for dinner and drinks later in the evening. The whole neighborhood was out snowblowing or playing in the snow so it was a very social day. This was our first BIG snow!

The kids had one more day with Miss Kim then before 2 weeks off with Mom and Dad. Another fun day in the snow it was!
