Labor Day weekend our wedding festivities continued with a Happy Shower Happy Hour for Sara and Matt on Saturday evening. They had a great group of friends and family come celebrate with them making it a fun and special event. Along with our happy hour theme, we had Matt & Sara trivia, a 'candy bar' which was a favorite amongst all the kiddos (and adults), and some delicious appetizers and drinks. We also had the Michigan game on which I'm sure is a violation of some Badger-country law, but we took our chances. Now all that's left is the wedding weekend itself...for the girls anyway (I will not be attending the bachelor party!) =)

We love you Sara and Matt, and we're looking forward to October 29th!
The last weekend in August kicked off the wedding festivities for Sara, our bride-to-be! Shannon, Steph, and I hosted a bachelorette weekend in the beautiful UP, and it was a VERY fun time. We had a group of 13 awesome ladies who made the weekend very memorable for Sara =) We started the trip from Wisconsin on Friday night for Sara's Amazing Race. We spent Friday night at our parents with a sauna and bonfire. Saturday morning started off with Grandma's pancakes, then we make our trek a bit further up to Marquette for a fun girls day AND night! =) Steph was the creative mastermind behind the Amazing Race theme - it was a lot of fun!
The second clue (first one was to Grandma's for pancakes) took us to Sugarloaf Mountain. It was a great morning for a hike. The bride-to-be, ready to hike!
Everyone at the top
From Sugarloaf, our next stop was Presque Isle park. Sara being the fitness nut she is, had to run around park and Jess and I joined her.
We stopped mid-way for a jump off the black rocks. The girls before their jump!
Look at this gorgeous water...

After our run and hike, we had some pampering time - pedis and manis at Nails by Kate. This place is so awesome - would recommend them for any event. Combined with a Border Grill lunch and champagne, perfecto!
After nails, we had some downtime in our swanky penthouse suite at The Landmark Inn. The suite was SOOOO nice, and huge (way bigger than we were expecting for the price!). It was awesome and perfect for the evening's events that followed. Of course we got all prettied up and had some fun party games.

Party games
The Amazing Race took us to the Vierling for blueberry wheat beer, to the Upfront for dinner, and for a bar hop up 3rd street. The night capped off with some dancing at the Upfront where they had a great band. The wedding will be fun for sure, especially when this group gets back together!
We all had matching bracelets which we felt the need to keep putting together like we were superheros all night =) I'm sure the alcohol wasn't influencing this behavior at all!
Sitas!
The whole clan at the Vierling - 14 blueberry beers please!
We closed the Upfront dancing the night away. We even got our own tambourine to play with the band!
Emmit is two years old and the celebrations just keep on coming! With all the wedding festivities over the past few weeks along with some work travel for Mama, Emmit has had 3 birthday parties now, and there's still one fun event to go! =)
Emmit's first party was at Grandma and Grandpa Boyer's house with his Aunts, Uncles, and cousins. He got spoiled with cake and cupcakes, a 'BIG tractor' from Aunt Gretchen, and lots of love from his extended family! =)
Digging in to Grandma Pancake's famous sponge cake! (Grandma Pancake is how Ellie refers to Grandma Ruth, too cute) =)
Happy Birthday Emmit!
A week later, Emmit had a second party at Grandma and Grandpa Pomeroy's house with Daddy, Ellie, Auntie Lindsey, Maxwell, and Matthew. He loved his puppy cake and some more fun gifts!
Emmit's third party was at home a couple weeks after his birthday, but it was still a lot of fun. Emmit is OBSESSED with tractors lately, so it was a tractor-themed party with family and a couple close friends.

Mmm...cake!
Having fun opening gifts with friends =)
At two years old, Emmit is super sweet and super mischief at the same time. He is into everything lately and wants to do EVERYTHING himself. Going places is a bit of a process, as he has to get his own shoes, put them on, open the door, get in the car, buckle himself, you get the idea...he is very persistent. He's the master at pushing kitchen chairs around to get into cupboards and drawers. He loves to get his own water out of the refridgerator, and ususally makes a mess doing it. He's a little copy-cat with Ellie, and will often do things she does (even if he knows neither she or he should be doing it!)
Emmit has really started talking these last couple months. It's a daily guessing game to know what he's saying, but if you can see what he's looking at or have some sense of context, you can usually figure it out. He wants to put the word 'big' in front of a lot of things lately, so we hears lots about 'big tractors', 'big airplanes', 'big trucks', 'big puppies', etc. It's funny because if something is actually small, it's not 'little' to Emmit, it's a 'baby' whatever it is.
Emmit is learning new things lately too. He knows his colors and will often say the color of something in front of what it is. He knows that Grandpa has a 'red truck', and everytime we see a red truck he thinks is Grandpa's. Emmit also LOVES animals and knows a lot of them from his many animal books. He's very good at making animal sounds too - his favorites being monkey and elephant =) Emmit's most favorite animal is still a dog/puppy, and he has at least 10 puppies that he drags around the house and/or sleeps with at night. His bed is so full of animals and blankets sometimes that there's hardly any room for him!
Emmit's favorite things to do include watching sports with Daddy (football and basketball usually). He will barely sit still for a cartoon, but will watch Sportcenter totally content. He loves reading stories with Mama, and playing hide-n-seek with Ellie. He loves all kinds of balls (basketball is probably his favorite), running, climbing, jumping (off steps or anything else he can jump off of), and playing around the house. His legs are too short to pedal any of his bikes, so he'll just push his way out of the garage, put his feet up, and fly down the driveway until Mama or Daddy catch him at the bottom. Emmit's favorite blankie is his soft puppy blanket, and he still likes his nummy too. He likes to 'rock rock' before bedtime and have Mama sing Baa Baa Black Sheep, Are You Sleeping (Emmit John), and Twinkle Twinkle. He still seems so 'baby' to me yet, but at the same time is growing up so fast.
One morning with a bunch of his puppies on the stairs. Emmit has puppies and blankies all over the place.
One afternoon, Mama, Ellie, and Emmit went to the Machine Shed for lunch. Emmit loved the tractors or course =)
Emmit got to ride in the BIG combine with Grandpa several times when we were home in August. He was in heaven!
One of our last trips home, we forgot Emmit's pack 'n play and had to improvise on sleeping arrangements. Emmit got to sleep in a bed for the first time and did great. So that Sunday when we got home, we converted the crib, and he's been in a bed ever since. He is sleeping like a champ in his new bed - he just loves it and Mama and Daddy love it too since he's not getting out at all hours of the night (like his sister did!)
Emmit having a fun time with Auntie Stephi =)
Emmit and Ellie have a love/hate relationship these days. They can be having so much fun together one minute, and then someone is crying less than 10 seconds later. Emmit sure knows how to bug his sister, but he also adores her as well.
And like Ellie, Emmit is getting ready for the upcoming wedding fun this fall. I don't have high expectations for super behavior, but he is sure going to be a cute boy in his little tuxedo =)
Next weekend will be the last of Emmit's marathon birthday events. Emmit, Mama, Auntie Shannon, and Henry are going to see Yo Gabba Gabba Live. He is going to love it - I cannot wait! =)
