Memorial Weekend

As we always do, we spent Memorial Day weekend in Michigan this year, and as it always is, it was a very fun time! Saturday was spent playing outside and just enjoying the nice weather and everyone's company. That morning we visited a true farm-country tradition, the fur-and-feather swap which is held 3 times a year at the Holmquist Feedmill property. We went with no intention of swapping or buying anything, but Ellie loved it because it was pretty much a farm animal petting zoo. Ellie had lots of fun looking at baby chicks (we need to work on gentle touches with those!), rabbits, sheep, goats, and a variety of other things. The music being played was also fun to dance to! On Sunday, we spent more time outside and later in the afternoon went to our old neighbor's wedding. We had planned on bringing Ellie, but my Aunt Debbie offered to babysit, so it was a little bit of a night out for Colin and I so that was really nice! Monday was, you guessed it, more time outside, and then heading back home in the early afternoon. Because Colin and I are heading up again next weekend to spend time with his family, we decided it'd be a good week for Ellie to stay and hang out with Grandma and Grandpa. They agreed (no surprise!), so this week we are home alone, but getting lots done. Many to-do's on the list this week including, getting Baby Boy's room in order, getting Ellie's new bedroom furniture set-up, and shampooing carpets. On top of working and the usual household stuff (laundry!), we'll have a busy week!

Ellie had lots of fun getting 4-wheeler rides from Daddy, Auntie Shannon, Auntie Steph, and Grandpa. She was saying 'Weeee' all weekend long!

Ellie also had A LOT of fun playing with Nelly and Rusty this weekend. She just loved chasing them around, feeding them, and playing outside. Here are a few videos Auntie Shannon took of Ellie talking about and playing with the pups.

Happy Ellie, Sick Mama

Well, so much for a healthy May - the month went downhill late this past Saturday night! After a wonderful party for Suzy and Ryan (which I'll post more on later), I woke up later in the night not feeling good at all. I was actually sick that Saturday morning too, but chalked it up to pregnancy and went about my day feeling a little weak, but otherwise ok. Well, it ended up being something more, and Sunday afternoon Mom and Dad were making a little trip to the ER. I was certain I had the flu and had envisioned myself being the latest H1N1 statistic in Wisconsin (did you know Wisconsin is second in the nation for this wonderful flu epidemic we're having -great huh?!), but turns out it was just a stomach virus AND a bladder infection. So after some IV fluids and anti-nausea medicine we were on our way home again. I pretty much felt awful Sunday and Monday. Tuesday morning thought I was up for work, but by 11:00 was so exhausted I came back home to sleep. Today I did work a full day, but am still tired and don't quite have my appetite back. I have a check-up w/ my OB-GYN tomorrow. I actually think I have an ear infection too because everything sounds muffled and my left ear feels plugged, but we'll see. I really am a healthy person, but pregnancy seems to take it's toll on my immune system - I get the weirdest illnesses when I'm pregnant. Still keeping my fingers crossed for no kidney stones (that fun started at 30 weeks with Ellie, and we're just past the 26 week mark with Baby Boy)!

So, even though I've had a sick week so far, Ellie has been wonderfully healthy which is great!! It can be me anyday, if she's feeling good. Ellie's been getting lots of playtime outside with Daddy which she loves of course. Rides on the lawnmower, in the wagon, and visiting puppy next door - she is in heaven. Here are a few Ellie shots from last week =)

After playing outside, Ellie's second fav is still reading stories...

Auntie Steph came down to visit last weekend...too much fun and fresh air for Ellie!

Mother's Day

It was a wonderful Mother's Day weekend in the Pomeroy household! On Saturday, Mom got some 'me-time' which was very, very nice! Suzy and I walked a 5K starting at 9:00 in the morning. As it is every year (I think this is our 5th year doing this run/walk?) - it was raining to start out the morning, but settled down by the start time. After our walk, we headed to the spa for some relaxing massages and after that a wonderful lunch out. It was really nice to spend this morning with Suzy as this was an extremely special Mother's Day for her. Early last week, Suzy and Ryan received their referral for their sweet little daughter in Taiwan. I think Suzy's been a Mom at heart for a long time now, but we're so excited and happy for them to be one BIG step closer to actually bringing their baby home. It was definitely an exciting and memorable week for them!

After our morning of pampering, I was ready for a nap! And Ellie must have known it because she slept so nicely that Mama got to nap too. Colin made a nice dinner then, and we capped the night off with a movie. Colin and I rented Marley & Me...I kind of knew what it was about, but not entirely...it was definitely a sad one! I had red, puffy eyes when it was done for sure!

Saturday was pretty much my Mother's Day, but today was still a nice, relaxing day at home. We went to church in the morning, out for lunch, and hit the grocery store. Then this afternoon I was able to get some laundry and a few other things accomplished around the house. Sometimes those days of getting stuff done are just as satisfying!

All-in-all, I had a great weekend as a Mom, and I hope all the other Moms out there did too!!

While I was gone, Colin and Ellie went flower shopping. Colin swears Ellie picked out the little one all on her own.

Ellie made this frame at daycare last week =)

All the Moms got roses at church this morning which I thought was kind of sweet.

15 Months Old!

Ellie is 15 months old, and while she is generally a happy, playful little girl, month 15 has certainly presented its obstacles! The entire month can be summed up in 1 word - SICK, and not just Ellie, our whole house! In the beginning of the month, it was me with a nasty cold, then Ellie had her pink eye and ear infection. The antibiotic she was on caused her to have diarrhea and then a yeast infection - yuck x 2 for almost 2 weeks. Then Colin got a cold, and the month was really capped off last week with Ellie getting the Roseola virus. I will spare all the details as it was a long, miserable week...Ellie had a fever over 104 for 4 days straight - as you can imagine, she was one sad baby. After the fever broke on Thur. evening, she got a nasty red rash all over her body. Roseola is in the same 'family' as chicken pox, but not itchy - thank God! The rash is only supposed to last 2-3 days - we're on day 3, and she's feeling SO much better. Eating, playing, and smiling again...not quite 100% yet, but very close. We're hoping for a happier, healthier household in May!

So, minus the past 3 weeks or so, Ellie is quite the happy, active, little toddler. She's into anything and everything - she's grown and reaches lots of things she couldn't before. We've recently added a child-proof door lock to our basement door, as one of Ellie's new talents is opening the doors (and flushing the toilets) - similar motions. Just a forewarning - if you're using the bathroom in our house, unless you want company, locking the door is required.

Ellie loves to play - inside and outside. She loves to read stories. She loves to look at the computer. We Skype with Auntie Sara a lot, and Ellie gets right up in the camera and talk to her at times. Her other computer favorite is the Yo Gabba Gabba website. Yes, that show is completely ridiculous - I've never actually watched the show - but the website has these little 1-2 min. video clips which Ellie LOVES. Her most favorite one is 'party in my tummy' - she just laughs and dances. Here's the link if you've never seen this - warning, it might be stuck in your head after watching!! Colin and I think it's pretty funny actually.

Let's see, what else does Ellie love...

Puppies! Everytime we're outside, she's running over to our neighbors to see their black lab. She points puppies out everywhere she sees them.

Belly buttons - she likes to point at hers and lift Mommy and Daddy's shirts to see theirs too!

The 'Hot Dog' song at the end of Mickey Mouse Clubhouse - another dancing favorite!

Bananas, string cheese, noodles, yogurt, applesauce, pancakes, french toast, scrambled eggs, peanut butter & jelly, green beans, carrots...Ellie's still a really good eater - there's not much she doesn't like.

Blankie and nukie - Ellie doesn't have her bubba anymore, but has since become more attached to the nuk. It's a necessity for naptime and bedtime, but we're good with that because she usually hands it right over when she wakes up. Blankie is also getting drug around the house a lot more that it used to.

What doesn't Ellie like? Stopping anything fun to have her diaper changed!! This is often a 2 person job. Being in her carseat when she'd rather be running around. Being inside when she wants to go outside. Pretty much anytime Ellie is NOT getting to do something she wants, she lets us know about it. This isn't all the time or anything, but she can definitely throw a temper tantrum when she wants to.

Ellie's vocabulary is expanding daily. She always tries to repeat things we say, but her most favorite words (with no prompting from Mommy or Daddy) are...Mummy, Mama, Daddy, puppy, hi, buh bye, NO!, Yes!, what's that?, and 'all done'. No and Yes are pretty funny now, with no she shakes her finger at you, and usually says it twice. With yes, she gives a firm head nod to let you know she means yes.

We haven't been much for picture taking this month, but I did get a few on our nice day today. Ellie thought it'd be fun to crawl into the bottom of the stroller.

Close-up (you can see what's left of her rash on her face too)

Whenever we're outside now, she'll crawl up onto the lawnmower and say 'weeee'...she can usually guilt Dad into giving her a ride =)

She doesn't look all that happy here, but it was just Mama's poor picture timing...

This is kind of a weird picture, but I thought it was cute.
