Pumpkins and Cookies

Last weekend we took a ride with our pumpkins up to Auntie Sara's for pumpkin carving and cooking making fun.

Cookies were first, and Ellie just loved making the cut-outs, frosting, and then sprinkling. Eating a cookie when they were done was quite fun too =)

Ellie's cookies were especially sprinkly =)

Cute one of Ellie and Auntie Sara

Emmit was happy to just eat a cookie when they were done =)

And then some pumpking carving. Colin and Sara were the master carvers, though Ellie was giving direction along the way. Daddy would ask Ellie what shape to make next for each cut, and that's how our works of art came to be! =)

Grandma's Birthday & Fun at Home

Here are a few more from our fun weekend in the UP for Grandma's 87th birthday.

The 3 muskateers playing on the couch

Happy Birthday Grandma - we love you! Ellie had fun helping blow out the 87 candles!

And back at home, we've had a few bonfires recently. It's gotten cold all of a sudden this last week, so we'll see if we have anymore. A couple weekends ago we popped some popcorn and sat outside around the fire. It's about 6:00 pm which explains the daylight =)

Cute one of Ellie - not even sure when this was!

And some indoor fun this past, very rainy weekend! One of Ellie's favorite things to look at on the phone is the PBS Sprout app. They have a bunch of fun little videos, one of which is 'Grover's Funny Fruit Face'. So, this past weekend we made Grover's Funny Fruit Face, and then ate it for a snack! Both kids thought it was really fun. P.S. - For being NOT AT ALL artsy-craftsy, I was pretty proud of myself after this one! =) Here's our finished Grover =) Of course the instructions called for blueberries and raspberries, neither of which I could find at the store, so we went with concord grapes and strawberries instead! =)

Dinnertime Chat

I absolutely love that just about every night of the week we have dinner together as a family. It's even more fun now that we can actually have conversations with Ellie. Emmit likes to mimic and listen to what's being said (and throw food) =) This last week, Ellie's really made us laugh with a few lines that I wanted to capture for the memory book.

First last week...I don't even know what we were talking about, I just remember that at one point Ellie said this, "Daddy, you're not listening to me! You need a time out!" (Side note: 'Not listening' is a phrase that Ellie is hearing herself a lot lately...did I mention pushing buttons in my last couple of posts?)

And tonight...usually our dinnertime chat consists of what Ellie did at school, who she played with, and what she learned. After that tonight though, she turned the tables on us and said: "So Mama...what's your day today?" It was so funny how she said it, the intonation and everything, like she was REALLY interested. I proceeded to tell her that I had a fun day with my friends too. =)

Going on an Adventure

Last Saturday morning, Ellie, Emmit, Anna, Aunt Debbie, and I went on 'an adventure' all around Grandma and Grandpa's farm. Ellie carried the pail and off we went to see what kind of treasures we could find. The whole time, Ellie was saying, 'we gotta watch out for Swiper the Fox!'

Ellie with her pail

Our first treasure was apples...

Emmit started out the adventure being pushed around in the Cozy Coupe

Around Grandma's house, look at these mushrooms

Ooh, let's find pine cones!

Emmit deciding to walk now

Through the driveway, we can find some rocks...

And by the barn, what do we find, but feathers!

Around the barn we go...

Emmit deciding to help

Closer to the fields, we found hay...

We decided to venture out into the field to find a cricket. We could hear them, but they were hiding pretty good! It ended up just being a good little walk =)

Look how full the pail is getting!

Aunt Debbie and I were taking turns carrying chunk-a-lunk...one of Emmit and I walking along..

Anna and Emmit coming back, what a great big cousin Anna is!

Counting our treasures...Ellie was tuckered out and ready for a nap, so Anna and Emmit counted everything up. What a fun adventure!

Recent Fun

We have had a very busy and fun fall so far! Work is a little nutso (which is cutting into my nighttime blogging), so hopefully that tapers off toward the end of the year now! Here are some recent fun pictures of the kids.

We are getting ready for Halloween here! Ellie decided early that she is going to be a 'pretty princess'. When we went to the store to pick out her costume, amongst the various princess options, she picked Ariel from the Little Mermaid. So, along that theme, I found Emmit a cute little crab costume =) Next week is going to be a fun-filled Halloween week with their daycare parties on Thursday, Ellie coming trick-or-treating to work with me on Friday, heading to Madison to see Shannon, Andy, and Henry (who's going to be a fish!) on Friday/Saturday, and then home to trick-or-treat again on Sunday! Colin and Andy are driving to Iowa to see MSU vs. Iowa football on Saturday, so Shan & I are having a fun-filled Halloween day with our Little Mermaid trio =)

Here's Ellie in her costume, over her clothes. I had to hide the costume temporarily, because she wouldn't take it off for like 2 days and it was getting dirty (and not the most durable thing!) This was like the first week of October! =) She picked some 'flowers' behind our house and was putting them in a vase for Henry here. And do you think I could get a smile?? No! Ellie is quite the little 'button pusher' these days!

A weekend morning at home. Both kids have their pumpkins, but for some reason the purple one is a constant thing to fight over. I seriously think Emmit just takes it BECAUSE he knows Ellie will get mad. Emmit has also learned how to push buttons recently - his sister's! He will walk right up to her, take whatever she has, turn around and run. It's endless entertainment in our house these days.

Last weekend we headed up to the UP again. It was Grandma's 87th birthday and a great weekend with family. I will post more on that later, but here are a couple cute pics in Subway on our way up. Ellie, Emmit, and I drove up to Green Bay to meet Colin after work, so here we are waiting and having a snack =)

And this is kind of random, but I thought it was cute. Colin, Ellie, and Emmit Skyping with Uncle Ashley in Pakistan sometime before it got cold judging on everyone's attire =)

Fall Fun

We are loving this fall weather lately! Perfect for playing outside and no bugs! Here are some pics from our recent fall fun =)

The weekend of October, Colin went on his annual 4-wheeling weekend with all the Pomeroy boys, so Ellie, Emmit, and I spent the weekend at Grandma & Grandpa's.

The beautiful view driving up to Marquette...the colors were gorgeous!

Shopping at Kohls with Grandpa...my Mom and I were checking out the sales while my Dad proceeded to push the kids around the store - they thought this was pretty fun! =)

Playing outside w/ Grandma's leaves

This past Sunday, we headed to a local Pumpkin Patch for a family outing. Ellie had SO much fun, and Emmit liked it too, but he was in a 'carry-me' mood, so that I did! It was in the high 70s too so not feeling so much like Fall this day!

Ellie requested a green witch's hat on her cheek

A picture in front of the caterpillar haybales

Playing on the haybale slides - Ellie was brave w/ all the big kids!

Peek-a-boo!

An attempt w/ both of them together...this is best we could do. I am holding Emmit up in the backround.
