Emmit's first party was at Grandma and Grandpa Boyer's house with his Aunts, Uncles, and cousins. He got spoiled with cake and cupcakes, a 'BIG tractor' from Aunt Gretchen, and lots of love from his extended family! =)
Digging in to Grandma Pancake's famous sponge cake! (Grandma Pancake is how Ellie refers to Grandma Ruth, too cute) =)

Happy Birthday Emmit!
A week later, Emmit had a second party at Grandma and Grandpa Pomeroy's house with Daddy, Ellie, Auntie Lindsey, Maxwell, and Matthew. He loved his puppy cake and some more fun gifts!
Emmit's third party was at home a couple weeks after his birthday, but it was still a lot of fun. Emmit is OBSESSED with tractors lately, so it was a tractor-themed party with family and a couple close friends.
Tractor cups for all the kids
Emmit's tractor cake!

Emmit giving Henry a ride in his new BIG TRACTOR!
Mmm...cake!
Having fun opening gifts with friends =)
At two years old, Emmit is super sweet and super mischief at the same time. He is into everything lately and wants to do EVERYTHING himself. Going places is a bit of a process, as he has to get his own shoes, put them on, open the door, get in the car, buckle himself, you get the idea...he is very persistent. He's the master at pushing kitchen chairs around to get into cupboards and drawers. He loves to get his own water out of the refridgerator, and ususally makes a mess doing it. He's a little copy-cat with Ellie, and will often do things she does (even if he knows neither she or he should be doing it!)
Emmit has really started talking these last couple months. It's a daily guessing game to know what he's saying, but if you can see what he's looking at or have some sense of context, you can usually figure it out. He wants to put the word 'big' in front of a lot of things lately, so we hears lots about 'big tractors', 'big airplanes', 'big trucks', 'big puppies', etc. It's funny because if something is actually small, it's not 'little' to Emmit, it's a 'baby' whatever it is.
Emmit is learning new things lately too. He knows his colors and will often say the color of something in front of what it is. He knows that Grandpa has a 'red truck', and everytime we see a red truck he thinks is Grandpa's. Emmit also LOVES animals and knows a lot of them from his many animal books. He's very good at making animal sounds too - his favorites being monkey and elephant =) Emmit's most favorite animal is still a dog/puppy, and he has at least 10 puppies that he drags around the house and/or sleeps with at night. His bed is so full of animals and blankets sometimes that there's hardly any room for him!
Emmit's favorite things to do include watching sports with Daddy (football and basketball usually). He will barely sit still for a cartoon, but will watch Sportcenter totally content. He loves reading stories with Mama, and playing hide-n-seek with Ellie. He loves all kinds of balls (basketball is probably his favorite), running, climbing, jumping (off steps or anything else he can jump off of), and playing around the house. His legs are too short to pedal any of his bikes, so he'll just push his way out of the garage, put his feet up, and fly down the driveway until Mama or Daddy catch him at the bottom. Emmit's favorite blankie is his soft puppy blanket, and he still likes his nummy too. He likes to 'rock rock' before bedtime and have Mama sing Baa Baa Black Sheep, Are You Sleeping (Emmit John), and Twinkle Twinkle. He still seems so 'baby' to me yet, but at the same time is growing up so fast.
One morning with a bunch of his puppies on the stairs. Emmit has puppies and blankies all over the place.
One afternoon, Mama, Ellie, and Emmit went to the Machine Shed for lunch. Emmit loved the tractors or course =)
Emmit got to ride in the BIG combine with Grandpa several times when we were home in August. He was in heaven!

One of our last trips home, we forgot Emmit's pack 'n play and had to improvise on sleeping arrangements. Emmit got to sleep in a bed for the first time and did great. So that Sunday when we got home, we converted the crib, and he's been in a bed ever since. He is sleeping like a champ in his new bed - he just loves it and Mama and Daddy love it too since he's not getting out at all hours of the night (like his sister did!)
Emmit having a fun time with Auntie Stephi =)
Emmit and Ellie have a love/hate relationship these days. They can be having so much fun together one minute, and then someone is crying less than 10 seconds later. Emmit sure knows how to bug his sister, but he also adores her as well.
And like Ellie, Emmit is getting ready for the upcoming wedding fun this fall. I don't have high expectations for super behavior, but he is sure going to be a cute boy in his little tuxedo =)
Next weekend will be the last of Emmit's marathon birthday events. Emmit, Mama, Auntie Shannon, and Henry are going to see Yo Gabba Gabba Live. He is going to love it - I cannot wait! =)

He is such a cutie, and him in the tux - oh my!!!! Great post with capturing some much of what he does, I always draw a blank when I do an age post. We had a great time at the tractor party, we were all worn out afterwards :) hehe.
Stacey- Grandma Pancakes has always been Jamie's name for Grandma. She had 4 grandmothers- so they all had special names to help her know which one we were referring to. Love Aunt Debbie
