Ellie's birthday fell on a Thursday this year so she got to bring cupcakes and celebrate with her friends at school which she was excited about. I remember as a kid being envious of the kids who's birthdays fell on school days. My birthday being in July never did...Ellie will always have that fun day at school =) I picked her up after school then, and we went out for lunch at her favorite place, Noodles and Company. After lunch we went to Build-A-Bear. The last thing Ellie needed for her birthday was another stuffed animal, but she loves Build-A-Bear and it was the one thing she wanted to do, so I caved. Here she is with her new bear. We ran a few errands after this, then headed home for the afternoon (to get ready for a fun night ahead!)
The evening of her birthday, Ellie had a fun party with friends. We invited our neighborhood gang, a couple of friends from her class (3 boys!), and Julianna too. There were 14 kids in all, and they had a blast playing at the Swingset Store (basically an indoor swingset showroom that you can rent out for parties). It was a snowy night, after a long, snowy and cold week, so this was great for the kids to run some energy off. The kids played, had a peanut butter and jelly, string cheese, grapes, and chips dinner, ate cake, and watched Ellie open presents. After the 2 hours was finished, Ellie asked to sleep there =) All the kids had a ton of fun!
The Saturday after Ellie's birthday, my whole family came to visit and we celebrated, again! This time for Ellie and Grandpa Steve both! We had MORE cake, Ellie, Emmit, and Henry played and played and the adults had fun eating and drinking. It's always a fun time when everyone comes to visit!
And then the Thursday after that (1 week after Ellie's birthday), Grandma Donna and Papa Herb came to visit, and we celebrated yet again...this time for Ellie and Papa Herb! We all went out to Texas Roadhouse for dinner and dessert (Aunt Gayle joined us too). It was another fun night. Ellie sat on the saddle, but didn't want them to sing to her =) She also really loved her new Scooby Doo dress that Grandma Donna made her =)
Ellie had such a great 5th birthday, with celebration after celebration after celebration after celebration. She got many new things that she LOVES (new baby dolls, a Barbie house, oodles of art supplies, and lots of stylish new clothes). She's sure a lucky girl to have so many family and friends that love her, and we're so lucky to have her! She's growing up so fast!
