Ellie Starts Kindergarten!

Ellie was thrilled to start kindergarten this Fall! She couldn't wait to see her old friends, her old bus driver, and her NEW school. The first couple weeks were rough, mainly because of the long days and no nap, so by the end of the week she was tired. We seem to be past that now though, and she is loving school. Her favorite things about school so far are:

- Picking her own lunch

- Playing with friends at recess...none of Ellie's 4K friends ended up in the same kindergarten class as her, but she's always happy to see them at lunch and recess, and has made new friends in her class this year too. Her elementary school has 6 kindergarten classes - it's big!

- Her weekly job...every week the kids pick jobs...last week she was the 'electrician' (turns lights on and off in the classroom), this week she is the 'materials manager' (hands out papers to her class). She always loves telling us about her job =)

- Art class

- Social centers (art and reading)

- Riding the bus

She really likes her new teacher, Ms. Lawson, too. She was missing Miss Summer from 4K early on, but Ms. Lawson seems to have found a place in her heart now too!

Waiting outside! We were ready nice and early this day. Ellie loves school, but it hasn't made her any more of a morning person...we've had a few days where we're running out to the bus just in the knick of time! Mom's a drill sergeant in the morning; otherwise we'd probably miss the bus more than we make it.

Ellie has loved to draw for a while now, but school has really ramped it up. She is always coming home with paper in her backpack, and all she wants to do at home lately is color and draw!
