October was a pretty chill month in comparison. We were living in our apartment, but the weather was great, so we got to do a lot of fun things outside. All of our stuff had been moved, so the packing and moving was behind us. We had some work to do on our new house before moving in, but since we weren't moving until after the kids 1st marking period at school in early Nov. we had a little time. October was a great month for having fun with friends and family =)
Perfect day for a hike at Mosquito Hill
Both of the kids had field trips in October, and I was lucky enough to chaperone both of them! Ellie's class went to a farm where they learned about the animals, growing apples, making applesauce, and growing pumpkins. This was a full day event, and the kids were tired when it was done!

Teamwork solving the puzzle in the corn maze
Bus ride home after a long day
Emmit's class trip was to an apple orchard. The kids learned about growing the apples as well as how they're processed and packaged to sell. They also got to pick a whole bag full!

Back to Mosquito Hill for the Harvest Moon festival with our old neighborhood gang
This is a random picture, but I remember taking it. This was Colin and I one night at the apartment after the kids had gone to bed. We used to play Scrabble ALL the time before kids (and all the technology gadgets we have now!)...we brought the old board out for some old-school fun =)
Grandma Ruth turned 91 on Oct. 17th so in Kaukola family fashion we threw a big party like we do every year! All the cousins and second cousins sure had fun together!
Ellie and Emmit had a couple days off school mid-month, so Colin took them up north and they got to go to a Halloween carnival with their cousins
Ellie at her buddy Grant's birthday/Halloween party
Fire station open house (can you tell we spent as little time as possible in the apartment!) =)
A visit to Cuff's Farm with Auntie Sara and Reese
And last but not least Halloween...Ellie was a chef, and Emmit was a Power Ranger. Halloween was FREEZING cold so thankfully the pumpkins filled up fast!! We did not stay out long at all.
