Merry Christmas 2013

Christmas was great this year...everything about it. I was sad taking down the tree the weekend after New Years, which is unusual because I'm usually ready by that time. The kids had so much fun, and so did we. It's a month and half past now as I'm writing this, but it was still fun looking through the pictures =)

I was off work starting on Dec. 20th. Almost 2 straight weeks off - it was great! Our gift-giving was also really spread out this year with numerous family get-togethers. That worked really well for the kids though as they got to enjoy each of their gifts instead of getting bombarded all at once. Ellie got an Easy Bake Oven from Auntie Sara which was definitely one of her favorite gifts this year. She had asked Santa for one, so when Auntie Sara gave it to her first she was concerned she was going to get two. That Santa was smart though, and just gave her some refills because he knew she had already gotten her oven ;)

We've been baking away since Christmas-time! =)

One of the kids took this with my phone....we have had SO much snow this year! This is our backyard in Dec. It's even worse now!

The kids wanted to make gingerbread houses (my favorite, not!) so we ventured out to get some one day. I was intent on getting the pre-assembled ones as they're easier to decorate, and could not find them anywhere. So we went with gingerbread men this year which they had just as much fun with =)

Christmas Eve day we went to the YMCA to swim in the morning. I think we're making this a tradition as when we were there, Colin commented that he thought we did this last year. It was so cold, we couldn't really play outside, so it seemed like the perfect thing to do. We had the whole pool to ourselves so it definitely was. The kids had a blast. After swimming we headed home for lunch and decided to head to church at 2:00 since the 4:00 service the previous year was sooo crowded. Well 2:00 this year was just as crowded, but we got seats together at least and the service was very enjoyable. Ellie and Emmit both fell asleep, tuckered out from swimming, and Mom and Dad actually got to listen to the service which never usually happens.

After church we headed home and then did our family gift exchange. The kids each picked out gifts for Colin and I and each other as well. We let them open a couple gifts from us too. Ellie got Colin a new wallet - she was so proud. Emmit got me a new toaster which he just thrilled to give me! =)

Ellie picked out a letter-writing board for Emmit, and Emmit picked out a manicure set for Ellie. They were both very excited about their gifts.

They each got Christmas jammies from Mom and Dad and a movie which we watched on Christmas Eve night.

Opening gifts

After our movie, we got ready for Santa. We set out 2 very sprinkly cookies and some chocolate milk along with food for the reindeer too. The kids were very excited, and it took Ellie FOREVER to fall asleep. Mom and Dad were tired when they finally got to bed =)

Christmas morning was here! They weren't up super early which was a treat after being up so late the night before! Ellie got a new dollhouse, Easy Bake kits, a Scooby calendar, and other little things which she all loved.

Emmit got a soccer net and ball, a remote control truck, a super hero puzzle, a ninja turtle, and a few other little things. He was very happy to set up the soccer net in our office for a few days =)

After a lazy morning, breakfast, and playing with toys, we packed up and headed north for a week. It was a quiet ride most of the way =)

First stop was Grandma Donna's and Papa Herb's. It was present madness like it is every year with all the kids, but everyone really had a great time. The kids played really well, and the adults got to catch up. It had been too long since we'd all been together.

Ellie lost her 3rd tooth the day after Christmas...as if Christmas wasn't exciting enough. The Tooth Fairy came too!

Sledding fun! This is a tradition at the Pomeroy Christmas gathering, but it was SO cold. We didn't stay out as long as we have in past years.

After 3 days we headed to Grandma Sharon's and Grandpa Steve's for the remainder of the trip. Boyer family Christmas was abnormally quiet this year - Shannon was home ready to have Charlee, Sara and Steph both had bball commitments. So it was just us at home with Mom and Dad for a couple days. The kids had fun opening more presents of course, visiting Great Grandma, and going to the Feedmill =)

My Uncle Bob had come up from Minnesota too, so he, my Mom, Grandma, and I played a lot of pinochle over the course of 3 days! Colin and the kids built this snowman one evening while we were playing cards. I thought it was so cute - had to take a picture =)

And finally back at home we were. The kids are still enjoying all their Christmas stuff. Emmit got this hulk costume from Shannon and Andy. He was thrilled to put it on! =)
