We're two weeks away from school starting, and I just noticed my last post was 'wrapping up the school year'...where did summer go? We've definitely kept busy this summer...this is just a snapshot of all the fun =)
Emmit and Eli playing at the park...these two have had a little 'break' from each other this summer, though have still had their moments of fun. Once school starts it'll be back to together again - they're in the same class - poor teacher!
This summer didn't seem to come with as many 'really hot' days, but the ones we had often involved sprinklers in the backyard. We've gotten pretty fancy stringing them up on the swingset and even running 4 at a time between our house and our two neighbors. We've had Pomeroy Dells in our backyard on more than one occasion.
Ellie had t-ball every Tuesday night in June and July. She enjoyed her first 'organized sport' though snacks after the game were almost as exciting as the games themselves! =)
Emmit had soccer every Monday night in June and July (June and July were busy!). He also really liked his games (and snacks after!), and Mom was the assistant coach which pretty much meant keeping the kids focused on the sidelines and not wandering off and/or picking flowers =)
We visited our favorite parks as usual. This was a really hot morning...Emmit's head was so sweaty I made his hair into a mohawk =)
We ran the Bellin run as a family again with our friends the Kigers. The kids each ran their legs and we capped off the night with a pizza party at our house.
Ellie, Emmit, and Caiden went to Science Camp at the Building for Kids. It was a weeek-long camp which they all enjoyed. Our house was exploding with science experiments that week!
We spent a long weekend in Gwinn at Mehl Lake with our friends the Jensens. The cool weather didn't stop the kids one bit...they were swimming and boating the entire time, and warming up by the fire or in the sauna in between.
Getting Dilly Bars with Kimmy! I don't even know what this day was, but Dilly Bars are always a hit =)
Strawberry picking with Kimmy...they picked A LOT and then came home and made freezer jam.
At the start of the school year we'll be parting ways with Kimmy. After 3 years with our family it is time for her to move on to a new job (for the first time not in child care), and for our kids to both be in school. This day makes me so sad...she is a part of our family, and we will ALL miss seeing every day. It will be a transition for all of us!
