Wrapping up the School Year

Ellie had a great kindergarten year. She learned to read, her favorite subject is math, and she made lots of new friends. We're mid-way through summer only, but she's already counting down the days until school starts again! May was filled was lots of fun activities to make the end-of-the-school-year great.

More teeth gone! Ellie has lost so many teeth this year...she has almost as many holes in her mouth right now as she does teeth!

Last PTO fundraiser night at Chuckee Cheese!

Posing with Emmit before the bus comes

The kindergarten class put on a musical at the end of the year - Barnyard the Moosical. If we said 'Musical', Ellie would correct us that it's 'MOOsical' =) You could tell they had been practicing for a long time as the kids knew exactly what they needed to do...perfectly orchestrating 130 kindergartners takes a lot of practice for sure!!! Ellie had a speaking part (only 1 of 15 kids in total) and the music was super cute. She had a great time, and we loved watching the whole show! I cried when they walked out, haha =)

Ellie goes through phases of letting me fix her hair. She was particularly patient this day!! Mom was feeling ambitious =) It turned out cute!

I also chaperoned a class field trip to a local nature preserve. It was a cold, rainy day, but the kids still enjoyed learning about wetlands and all the animals that live in them.

Emmit had some end of the year fun as well! As a change-up from his normal YMCA classes, Emmit and Eli both participated in a pre-school program at a local high school. It was called the Appleton Playschool, and it was a year-end course for high school students learning about early childhood education and classroom management. The class was 6 weeks long, and the 'teachers' were all high school students (with their teachers supervising of course). Emmit loved his HS 'buddies', and there were even some tears shed by the older kids on graduation day. Walking across a stage to get a diploma from the principal followed by a fun classroom party with little kids, big kids, teachers, and parents made for a great last day. I thought the whole experience was really awesome, for the HS kids and the little kids too.

More waiting for the bus poses!

Last day of school!! On to 1st grade for Ellie next year, and 4K for Emmit too!
