Bye Bye Nummy!

Another story for the memory books =)

Both of our kids have loved their nummies (pacifiers, nuks, pacis - whatever you call it). In our house, they're nummies. Well this week Ellie decided she was going to be a big girl and not use her nummy at night anymore. She's 3 1/2 so we're long overdue, but it was just one of those things that we didn't work too hard at until now. So last Monday night was her first night without nummy.

Night one - She cried in bed for a while, Colin laid with her and she finally fell asleep. We thought, that wasn't so bad. The next morning we go downstairs and see a stool pushed over to the counter by the nummy cupboard. Little stinker had gotten up at some point in the night (after midnight for sure) and got her nummy again. How we didn't hear her 1) get up or 2) push the stool across the kitchen floor is beyond me.

Night two - Colin and Ellie went to the store to get a new animal for her to sleep with so she wouldn't need nummy anymore. She got a little Hello Kitty and it's name is 'Nummy'. She slept great that night, no getting up!

Night three - Good!

Night four - Ellie goes to bed just fine. The next morning Emmit wakes up very early (calling for his nummy). Yes, he's addicted too, but we'll just do one child at a time here =) I cannot find his nummy anywhere, and he is down to one now too. So he's up very early that day because he won't go back to sleep without it. A little while later Ellie gets up, with EMMIT'S nummy. She had 'sneaked in his room to borrow his nummy because she was sad' (that's what she told us). We kind of had to laugh at that =)

Night five, six...the last 2 have been good! No nighttime sneaking, no crying. One down, one to go! I actually think Emmit will be easier, not quite SO attached like his sister was, but we'll see.
